Handy Tips for your Night Sessions

1. Necessary Items to bring along!

  • A:  A Sturdy Tripod

  • B: Remote Shutter Cable or release, (prefer wired)

  • C: A Lens hood to minimize lens flare from lights outside your frame.

  • D: One or two good flashlights

  • E: An open mind

2. Miscellaneous  Night Tips

  • A: Keep your ISO settings at 100-200 for the least amount of "Grain".

  • B: Be sure to enable any "noise reduction" settings on your camera if available

  • C: Read up on "Bracketing" in your manual.

  • D: Turn off any VR or IS stabilizers on your lens, on some makes of lenses these features can actually introduce vibrations when tripod mounted.

  • E: Bear in mind that auto focus may be impossible in darkness, you may have to manually focus some scenes.

  • F: Use the Mirror Lockup feature of your SLR to prevent mirror slap from introducing vibration.
