MPS PHOTO TIP OF THE MONTH Sunset or Sunrise pictures are always fun to take. Here are a couple of quick tips to get you started Position yourself so that you get a full view of the sunset or sunrise. Scout areas in advance. If possible look for an area to catch the sun reflecting off water. Sometimes a good shot can be found photographing the sun setting between the leaves of trees. When shooting sunset photos. Keep shooting! There is only a small time window during which the sun sets. Get in as many shots as you can and select the best. When shooting sunset photos, clouds make a nice backdrop. During sunsets, clouds add color and texture to an otherwise bland and uninteresting photo. If you have an SLR try multiple exposure settings. Use a technique called bracketing (shooting the same picture at different exposures) to get the best shot. If you have a point and shoot digital, you probably have a "scene" mode for sunsets. This mode can yield some great results with no fiddling with settings. Bring along your telephoto lens when shooting sunsets. By simply zooming in, you can make the sun more impressive, you can simply zoom in. Some of the best shots of sunsets I’ve seen are done with long focal lengths. Sunset or Sunrise photos are fun and challenging. Give one a try today! |
